Recently, Nick Kyrgios shared on social media a photo with Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon 2022, with the caption: "Doubles in Brisbane. See you all."
Fans will be able to see the legendary Djokovic play doubles with Kyrgios at the Brisbane International, taking place in Australia from December 29 to January 5. This ATP 250 event serves as a warm-up tournament for the Australian Open, which starts on January 12.
Djokovic and Kyrgios have met three times on the ATP Tour in the past, with the Australian winning the first two meetings in 2017 before losing in four sets in the 2022 Wimbledon final.
Kyrgios has played just one singles match in the past two years due to multiple knee, foot and wrist injuries. He will return to action in Brisbane - his first competitive match since June 2023. Kyrgios has also confirmed he will enter the Australian Open ranked 21st, partnering compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in the men's doubles.
News of the Djokovic-Kyrgios match has fans excited, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion saying he wants to play more in 2025 after an inconsistent season.
Djokovic’s entry into both the singles and doubles events in Brisbane suggests he wants to be in top shape ahead of the Australian Open. If he wins in Melbourne, he will win his 25th Grand Slam, surpassing Margaret Court as the player with the most majors of all time.
