After the end of the qualifying round, the US Open 2024 Organizing Committee conducted a draw for the events. The most notable are still the men's singles and women's singles.
In the men's singles, the world's No. 1 player, Jannik Sinner, will have to go through an extremely difficult path to reach the final, with potential opponent Novak Djokovic.
The number 1 seeded Italian player must have wanted to avoid number 3 seed, Carlos Alcaraz, in his bracket, but in the end, the draw put them in the same direction, with the prediction of facing each other in the semi-finals.
Sinner (winner of the Australian Open) and Alcraz (winner of the French Open and Wimbledon) are the two winners of the past 3 Grand Slam tournaments this year.
But before he can meet Alcaraz, Sinner also has to face another very strong opponent, a hard court expert, Daniil Medvedev - No. 5 seed, in the quarterfinals. If they meet, it will be a repeat of this year's Wimbledon quarter-final, which the Russian won.
If not Medvedev, most likely Stefanos Tsitsipas - seed number 11. Sinner can play Stan Wawrinka in round 3, Tommy Paul in round 4.
As for Alcaraz, he also has some tough tasks in his bracket, with Jack Draper a possible third-round opponent. He lost to the Englishman on grass at Queen's Club in June.
Seb Korda, Hubert Hurkacz are also opponents in Alcaraz's bracket, who may have to beat Sinner and Djokovic to win his second US Open title.
As for Djokovic, he starts against qualifier Radu Albot, who could face Ben Shelton in the fourth round, Andrey Rublev or Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals and Alexander Zverev as a potential opponent in the semis.
In the women's singles, No. 1 seed Iga Swiatek is also in a similar situation to Sinner, with a very difficult bracket.
The Polish tennis player can meet Mirra Andreeva again - the young Russian tennis player who gave her a hard time at the recent Cincinnati tournament in the fourth round. After that, she will encounter one of two American players, Danielle Collins or Jessica Pegula. in the quarterfinals, while Elena Rybakina can stand in the semifinals, or Jasmine Paolini is ready to surprise after reaching the Wimbledon final.
If she overcomes the challenges and makes it to the final, Swiatek can once again face Aryna Sabalenka - the person who beat her in the final of the recent Cincinnati Open.
US Open 2024 officially kicks off on August 26.
