The information was revealed by Indian Industry and Trade Minister Piyush Goyal after a meeting with European Trade and Economic Security Commissioner Maros Sefcovic in Brussels.
He said that the meeting focused on improving market access for businesses in both India and the EU as well as strengthening a strong and diverse supply chain.
"We reaffirm our common commitment to completing the India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations before the end of 2025," said the Indian Minister of Industry and Trade.
The minister also noted that officials discussed "promoting innovation and competitiveness, the key role of investment and circulation flows in shaping a future-friendly deal".
New Delhi and Brussels have been pushing for the signing of a free trade agreement for years. The negotiations began in 2007 but were postponed in 2013 due to disagreements over intellectual property rights, data protection in IT companies and access to common markets for certain goods, such as cars. The negotiations were resumed in 2022.
