Former Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra confirmed on September 8 that Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra will return to Bangkok on the night of September 8.
The information was shared by Ms. Paetongtarn with the press at the headquarters of the Pheu Thai Party.
The former Thai Prime Minister said he would not be at Don Mueang International Airport to pick up Mr. Thaksin due to his busy work schedule.
Ms. Paetongtarn further revealed that Mr. Thaksin congratulated the new Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakuln after his appointment.
According to the Flightradar24 website, Mr. Thaksin's private plane landed at Singapore International Airport at 7:00 a.m. on September 8. It is reported that his plane will land at Don Mueang airport at 5:00 p.m. the same day.
Mr. Thaksin left Thailand on September 4 with his original destination being Singapore, for a health check. However, due to delays in entry and exit, his private plane had to move to Dubai.
Thaksin announced that he would return to Thailand on September 8, a day before the Supreme Court's ruling on whether he would avoid an illegal detention order.
The court is scheduled to announce a verdict on September 9 on whether to return Mr. Thaksin to prison.
