Russian Governor of Belgorod province, Mr. Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on February 8 that he survived after being hit by missile fire from Ukraine while inspecting local infrastructure. The information was announced by Mr. Gladkov after a large-scale attack on Belgorod province.
According to Mr. Gladkov's sharing, while moving through infrastructure projects during a business trip, a surprise missile attack began. He and the emergency response forces quickly found safe shelter. He affirmed that he was not injured in the incident.
On the same day, Mr. Gladkov reported that the city of Belgorod suffered a missile attack that injured 2 people. According to him, Ukrainian forces fired a total of 10 missiles in this attack, raising concerns about the escalation of violence in the border area.
In a further announcement, the Governor of Belgorod said that within 24 hours, Ukrainian forces had launched attacks on 41 residential areas belonging to 9 administrative units in the province. A total of at least 21 artillery shells were fired, along with 115 drone attacks. Among them, 74 UAVs were intercepted and neutralized.
In Belgorod and Borisovsky districts, 19 UAVs were recorded participating in the attack, 13 were shot down. Valuyki and Krasnoyaruzhsky districts suffered 53 UAVs, of which 40 were intercepted. In Graivoron district, air defense forces recorded 11 types of ammunition used along with 8 UAVs attacking, 3 of which were shot down.
In the Yakovlevsky district, the air defense system shot down 2 UAVs. In the Volokonovka district, Pogromets village and Yekaterinovka and Odintsov settlements were attacked by 3 UAVs, one was shot down and one civilian was injured.
The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the information released by Belgorod province.
