The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs about the case of a group of prisoners who opened fire and fled in Cambodia

Vietnam is verifying information with Cambodian authorities and will take necessary citizen protection measures against these people.

At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of November 27, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang answered questions from the press about the incident in which a Vietnamese person among the 6 prisoners in Cambodia opened fire to escape as soon as he was taken to the Svay Rieng Provincial court on November 18.

According to Cambodian authorities, there were 5 Vietnamese prisoners in this group and the girl who gave the gun to the group to escape, who was also Vietnamese.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, on November 18, Cambodia arrested 6 Vietnamese people on the run in Svay Rieng province, Cambodia.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued instructions and the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia is verifying the information with the Cambodian authorities, and will take necessary citizen protection measures for these people".

Also at the press conference, Ms. Pham Thu Hang answered questions from the press about the case of a Korean citizen found dead in a large bag in Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnamese police arrested 2 Korean suspects for investigation.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang said: "Vietnamese authorities have notified the Korean diplomatic representative office in Vietnam about this incident. Currently, Vietnamese authorities are also investigating to clarify."
