658 suspects were arrested in raids into major online scams in Cambodia.

Cambodian media reported on November 8 that at least 658 suspects, mostly foreigners, were arrested by the country's law enforcement in raids on two locations involved in online fraud cases in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province.

The raids on these scams were confirmed by Cambodian Deputy Spokesperson of the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs Touch Sokha on the evening of November 7.

According to Mr. touch Sokha, the raid was carried out on November 4 by a working group of the Cambodia Ministry of Home Affairs' Online Anti-Fraud Committee, in coordination with the Cambodian National Police and the Svay Rieng Provincial Police under the coordination of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Svay Rieng Provincial Court.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Cambodian Ministry of Home Affairs added that the first target is a building on a concrete road in Bavet Kandal village, Bavet Sangkat, Bavet city, Svay Rieng province. In the raid, authorities discovered 57 foreigners, including 15 women, holding 6 nationality, and 12 Cambodians working in the fields of sanitation, security and interpretation.

The second facility is a 9-storey building on Kampong Spean Street, Bavet Kandal Village, Bavet Sangkat, Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province. At this facility, authorities discovered 601 foreigners, with nationality from 4 countries.

The initial conclusion of the officials shows that the first facility is the location for online fraud under the guise of impersonating police to threaten victims.

The second facility is the location for online scams under the high-yield investment strategy. Here, subjects create fake bank transaction images, scam affection, create fake marathon registration and use AI Deep Fake technology to fake videos and images to steal identities.

According to Mr. touch Sokha, the latest campaign to break up scams is evidence of Cambodia's goodwill and efforts in solving online fraud.

He added that in the first 9 months of 2025, the National Police of Cambodia investigated and cracked down on 48 cases of fraud using technology systems and deported 2,722 foreigners from Cambodia.
