According to AFP, Chinese President Xi Jinping left Beijing on September 23rd, heading to the US at the invitation of President Donald Trump, beginning a state visit lasting until September 25th.
Accompanying President Xi Jinping were his wife Peng Liyuan, Mr. Cai Qi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi.
According to the White House, President Trump is expected to personally welcome President Xi Jinping at the runway at the Andrews Joint Base. On the morning of September 24, President Xi Jinping and his wife will attend a solemn welcoming ceremony at the White House, including a US Air Force flight performance.
The two leaders are then scheduled to hold talks, before President Trump hosts a state banquet to entertain President Xi Jinping at the White House on the same evening.
The visit concluded on the morning of September 25 with a tea show at the White House and a visit to the National Archives.
This is President Xi Jinping's first visit to the US after more than a decade and the third meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Trump since Mr. Trump began his second term. The last time US-China leaders met was President Trump's visit to Beijing in May.
The White House called the visit "an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries". President Trump said he would "discuss almost everything" with the Chinese President.
According to Xinhua, the visit is expected to contribute to further stabilizing Sino-US relations as well as the world situation.
Before the meeting, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister He Lifeng preliminarily discussed the possibility of establishing a communication channel between the two countries on artificial intelligence (AI). The two sides have not announced many details about this content.
