These videos were filmed by Ecuadoran military personnel at La Regional prison last year and were shared with CNN.
In another video filmed in Macias's prison, often called "Fito", there is a colorful mural depicting the gang leader with a " silvery or lead" warning. This phrase is often used by Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, warning teachers about the choice of bribes or being shot.
Experts say the videos provide further evidence of a clear reality that Ecuador's prison system has become the headquarters of criminal gangs.
Criminal groups have full control over prisoners, thats why Fito has all those benefits in prison: TV, the Internet, food, alcohol, women - everything he wants, said Jean Paul Pinto, an evasionist security expert who advised the police and environmental intelligence agency Ecuador.
Experts speculate that the freedoms that the drug lord enjoyed while in detention are also the reason why he could escape from La Regional prison.
This case of overcoming obstacles has attracted the attention of the international community and led to a wave of violence across the country last month.
Macias is one of Ecuador's most notorious black social tycoons and the only surviving founding member of the Los Choneros gang. According to consultancy Insight Crime, in 2011, he was convicted of a series of crimes, including murder and drug trafficking, but was released from prison in February 2013 and re-arrested a few months later.
It is reported that Los Choneros and his main rival, Los lobos, are allying with Mexico drug gangs in the fight for control of drug trafficking in Ecuador. However, in 2020, when Los Choneros were in crisis and Macias became the leader of this gang, Los lobos seized the opportunity to compete.
Los Choneros' civil war that year, as well as local competition with Los lobos, coincided with a prison violence and a high murder rate in Ecuador.
La Regional Prison - where Macias was held before the latest prison break - is one of five facilities that make up the large prison complex in the port city of Guayaquil. The city is located on a popular cocaine transport route and has seen some of the bloodiest violence between rival gangs.
In the music video that went viral on social media last year, sung by Mariachi Bravo, there is a picture of leader Los Choneros in prison and petitioning a rooster. This video also features Michelle - Macias's daughter. It is not yet clear how Mariachi Bravo could film a music video with the notorious gang boss.
Corruption allegations revolve around Macias's lavish life in prison, especially the reason why the gang boss could be in an average security prison rather than a maximum security prison.
In announcing US sanctions on Los Choneros and Macias in February, the US Treasury Department said the gang leader has art of access to mobile phones and the Internet, allowing doctors to continue directing Los Choneros operations and communicating outside.
A military source told CNN that when he was in prison, Macias liked to fight the chickens. The prison of the notorious gang boss was also expanded with 2 normal rooms. The Ecuador drug kingpin may also take many women to prison for visits during his detention.
Macias lived a relatively lavish life compared to ordinary prisoners. According to Ecuavisa - CNN branch, the drug lord once held a very grand birthday party, including a scene of fireworks and vibrant music from the prison. The image of the event shows the drug lord taking photos with a birthday cake.
Last December, Ecuadoran President Daniel Noboa joked in an interview with state media that Macias's prison had more electrical sockets more than a room at the Marriott Hotel.
