South Korea's Seoul Central District Court on June 26 sentenced Kim Keon Hee - wife of former President Yoon Suk Yeol - to 7 years in prison for corruption, including buying and selling positions in the state apparatus, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Accordingly, former First Lady Kim Keon Hee was sentenced to 7 years in prison for receiving luxury gifts to appoint positions and favor in business. Former President Yoon Suk Yeol's wife was also prosecuted for bribery to mediate transactions.
The group of special prosecutor Min Joong Ki - the independent prosecutor leading the investigation into corruption allegations related to the former First Lady - has requested a sentence of 7.5 years in prison, arguing that the former First Lady has repeatedly abused her position to carry out personal transactions.
