Affirming the value of the 40-year Doi Moi journey
In the 40-year journey of Doi Moi, the country has gone through a long journey with so many profound changes. From an economy with many difficulties, Vietnam has gradually risen, strongly integrated, and achieved many important achievements in socio-economic development, improving people's lives, consolidating national defense and security and affirming its position in the international arena. But behind these achievements are not only growth figures, large projects or national-level development strategies. It is also the persistent contribution of millions of Vietnamese people in all fields, from workers, farmers, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, scientists to academic forces, entrepreneurs, workers, direct production workers to typical collectives, armed forces, pioneering units in innovation, digital transformation, green economy and sustainable development. armed forces, teachers, doctors and simple examples in everyday life.
From that source, the Vinh Quang Vietnam Program was born and has persistently accompanied the country for more than two decades. Not only is it an honoring ceremony, the program has become a political - cultural - social event of special significance, where typical contributions are recognized, good values are spread and patriotic emulation spirit continues to be ignited in social life.
Right from the first time it was organized in 2004, Vinh quang Vietnam has carried a clear mission: Honoring collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements, people who have contributed their efforts, intelligence, bravery and even silent sacrifices to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland. Year by year, the program constantly expands the scope of honor, from scientists, entrepreneurs, workers, direct production workers to typical collectives, armed forces, pioneering units in innovation, digital transformation, green economy and sustainable development.
What makes the unique value of Glory of Vietnam is that the program not only honors great achievements at the macro level, but also discovers and spreads very real and true stories. They can be workers diligently working in mines, engineers silently taking initiatives to benefit businesses, teachers who sow letters in mountainous areas, doctors dedicated to the lives of patients, soldiers who firmly hold guns at the border, or individuals who overcome adversity to live beautifully and usefully for the community. Their common point is the spirit of responsibility, aspiration to rise up and the will to serve the country.
After 40 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam has made important progress in industrialization, modernization, development of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration. But Doi Moi is not an abstract concept. Doi Moi is created from specific people, specific jobs, initiatives in factories, projects on the construction site, research in laboratories, policies at the grassroots level and tireless efforts of each worker. The glory of Vietnam therefore plays the role of a "living museum" of the spirit of Doi Moi, where each face honored is a vivid slice of the changing country.
Born in 2004, the Vinh Quang Vietnam program was directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, organized by Lao Dong Newspaper, in coordination with the coordination of introduction and voting of the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee and many ministries and sectors. The program has become an indispensable milestone in the national patriotic emulation movement.
To date, 313 collectives and individuals have been honored - ordinary but extraordinary people: technical workers, highland teachers, border doctors, peacekeepers... They are the vivid embodiment of the spirit of "labor is glory", a fire that strongly inspires the community and the young generation.
Marking the 40th anniversary of the Doi Moi (Renovation) campaign initiated and led by the Party, the 22nd Vinh Quang Viet Nam (Glory of Vietnam) Program in 2026 with the theme "Glory of Vietnam - 40 Years of Doi Moi" is expected to be held at the end of July 2026, which is a practical activity to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026). The program will honor collectives and individuals who have contributed and made great and historically significant achievements of the country in the past 40 years.
Arousing social trust
In speeches at the Vinh quang Vietnam Program organized, many Party and State leaders affirmed that the program has discovered, spread and encouraged good values in social life, fostered belief, and nurtured aspirations to contribute to the cause of building, developing and protecting the Fatherland. That assessment shows a meaning that goes beyond a normal honoring program. Vinh quang Vietnam has become a place to arouse social belief, reminding everyone that all genuine contributions, whether large or small, are worthy of respect.
In the country's development journey, trust is a particularly important resource. When society witnesses real people, real jobs, real contributions, and belief in good things is strengthened. When a worker is honored for initiatives in production labor, many other workers have more motivation to create. When a scientist is recognized for his persistent contribution to medicine, education or technology, the younger generation has more role models to follow. When a business collective is honored for being pioneers in digital transformation, green economy, and innovation, the business community has more inspiration to serve society, not just pursue profits.
That is the deep spread of Glory of Vietnam. As shared by TTND. Professor, Hero of Labor Nguyen Anh Tri, the award is not only a timely recognition but also a great source of encouragement, inspiring workers to continue striving. What is precious is that the program's criteria not only look at past achievements, but also care about whether individuals and collectives will continue to contribute after being honored or not. That is what makes glory not the end point, but a reminder of responsibility.
In the context of the country entering a new stage of development, the role of Glory of Vietnam becomes even more meaningful. After 40 years of renovation, Vietnam not only sets a goal of rapid development, but also must develop sustainably, inclusively and humanely. New requirements such as digital transformation, green transformation, improving labor productivity, developing high-quality human resources, building a culture of innovation and consolidating the great national unity bloc all need human strength. Without the desire to contribute, without the spirit of responsibility, without pioneering examples, all development strategies, even if correct, will hardly go into life.
Pride is not to stop in the past, but to add strength to the future. Aspiration is not a slogan, but must be realized by labor, creativity, discipline, responsibility and dedication. The collectives and individuals honored are proof of that spirit. They show that every Vietnamese person, in any position, can contribute to building the strength of the country if they know how to live with ideals, work responsibly and constantly rise up.
In particular, Vinh quang Việt Nam also has important significance in arousing and spreading the patriotic emulation movement in the new era. The emulation spirit that President Ho Chi Minh once called for is not only emulation in combat, production or study, but also emulation to serve the nation, serve the Fatherland, making people's lives better and better. In peacetime, patriotic emulation is expressed through labor productivity, technical innovation initiatives, scientific research, environmental protection, community care, cultural preservation, international integration and building a humane and responsible Vietnamese image.
Looking back at 40 years of Doi Moi, it can be seen that the country's greatest achievement is not only the change in socio-economic appearance, but also the maturity of Vietnamese people in development thinking. From the mindset of overcoming difficulties, Vietnam is shifting to the mindset of proactively integrating, creating and rising up. From the goal of escaping poverty, the country aims for the aspiration of prosperity and happiness. From individual efforts, we are building community strength, national strength and the soft strength of Vietnamese culture. Glory of Vietnam is one of the programs contributing to clarifying that journey with specific faces, specific stories and moving values.
In the era of social networks and digital media, spreading positive values is becoming increasingly urgent. Society needs to be energized by good examples, beautiful deeds, kind actions and inspiring stories. Glory of Vietnam, with the role of a prestigious honor program, has contributed to creating a positive information flow, helping the public see people who are silently working, contributing and serving every day. That is also how the program contributes to consolidating the spiritual foundation of society, fostering faith in the country's development path.
From mining worker Pham Dinh Duan with the aspiration to continue working, initiatives to contribute to the coal industry, to collectives such as the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese with the role of connecting overseas Vietnamese, or large enterprises such as Viettel with the spirit of serving the people, each story honored opens up a direction of development. The country wants to go far, it needs people like that: knowing how to be proud but not complacent, being recognized but not stopping, having achievements but continuing to contribute.
Glory of Vietnam, therefore, not only looks back at what the country has achieved, but also looks towards the future. The program reminds us that the 40-year renovation achievements are the foundation, but the aspiration to develop a powerful and prosperous country still requires the joint efforts of the entire nation. Each collective, each individual, each family, and each business can be a "little flame" that ignites the spirit of patriotism, innovation and creativity.
In that flow, Lao Dong Newspaper - in its role as the program organizing unit under the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the coordination of relevant agencies - has contributed to the implementation of a very beautiful mission of the press: discovering the good, honoring the beautiful, spreading the spirit of dedication and empowering human values in society. That is also a practical contribution of revolutionary journalism to the cause of building Vietnamese people in the new era.
After more than two decades, Vinh quang Vietnam has become a rendezvous of pride, a place where silent contributions are called, a place where patriotic emulation spirit is given more vitality, a place where Vietnamese aspirations are awakened from ordinary but extraordinary people. Associated with the 40-year renovation journey, the program further shows its profound meaning: The country's development does not only come from sound policies, great resources or favorable opportunities, but first of all from people - people who know how to contribute, know how to sacrifice, know how to create and know how to put national and ethnic interests first.
Glory of Vietnam continues to be an important source of spiritual motivation on the journey to build a rich, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam.
