British police arrived at the scene in Ealing, west London, after receiving reports of an ownerless item discovered on the street near the North Korean Embassy in England, the Daily Mail reported.
People in the area panicked and ran out to the streets away from the area after the item, a backpack, was discovered on the road.
"The police received a report at 7:52 p.m. on Monday, September 25, of a suspicious item outside an address in Gunnersbury Ave," a spokesperson for London City Police said.
Police officers and other emergency units arrived at the scene. The streets in the area were blocked, and nearby residents were evacuated in case, London police said.
The police initially considered the ownerless item as a suspicious item, then conducted a controlled explosion near the location of the North Korean Embassy.
However, London police later confirmed that officers were present at the scene and assessed that the object was not anything that could cause damage. "A controlled explosion occurred at 9:28 p.m. The items found are unsuspicious," the spokesperson said.
It is known that the address of the North Korean Embassy in the UK is located at 73 Gunnersbury Ave, west London, UK. This is a 7-bedroom building purchased by the North Korean government in 2013 for 1.3 million pounds (about 1.7 million USD).
