The Indonesian meteorological agency said that a magnitude 6.7 earthquake occurred on Indonesia's Sulawesi Island, with the epicenter recorded at a depth of 10km, about 42km southeast of Palu town.
The earthquake occurred at 10:27 am local time. There are currently no reports of casualties or property damage.
The Indonesian Bureau of Meteorology, Climate and Geophysics (BMKG) said there is no tsunami risk after the latest earthquake.
Palu was devastated by strong earthquakes and tsunamis in 2018, killing more than 4,000 people, making local people particularly sensitive to seismic activity in the area.
The latest earthquake in Indonesia occurred just days after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake on Mindanao Island, Philippines that killed at least 61 people and left 40 missing.
The strong earthquake in the Philippines also raised the seabed to 2m, exposing coral and harming marine life. In some places, the coastline extended to 200m.
