Iran said on June 23 that technical negotiations in Switzerland with the US and mediators had ended successfully, paving the way for the next phase of negotiations to end the conflict that has lasted more than 100 days.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi - head of Iran's technical negotiation group - said that the 4-party talks ended with an agreement on arrangements for future negotiations, including working groups and implementation mechanisms.
Mr. Gharibabadi informed that the discussions took place after a high-level committee meeting held on June 21 to monitor the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Islamabad - a framework agreement signed online between the US President and the Iranian President on June 17 to end the conflict.
Technical discussions have been conducted to determine the mechanism for implementing the memorandum and the statement made after the end of the high-level meeting as well as the necessary understandings that have been gained" - Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Mr. Gharibabadi as saying.
Meanwhile, Iran's top negotiator Mohammad Ghalibaf said that an agreement had been reached with the US on freezing 12 billion USD of Iran's frozen assets.
US President Donald Trump informed that the money will be used to buy US agricultural products. "We are progressing very well in negotiating a fair and reasonable agreement. The released money will be used to buy exclusive food through the US, from US farmers. Corn, soybeans, everything they need will be bought from our farmers" - Mr. Trump shared from the Oval Office.
The US Treasury Department has also announced 60-day exemptions for Iran to sell oil and petrochemical products.
As for the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran has agreed to establish a communication line with the US to ensure safety. But Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf said that the situation around this waterway route will not return to the state before the conflict occurred.
