Iran launches widespread missile retaliatory strike against Israel

The Iranian military launched a series of ballistic missiles into Israel immediately after President Donald Trump confirmed that the US began a major operation in this country.

On February 28, air defense systems in northern and central Israel were continuously activated to intercept flying objects from Iran.

Alarm bells rang in many major cities, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, after the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the start of the first wave of attacks in response to the coalition's preemptive airstrikes. This is the most serious military escalation in the Middle East since the beginning of 2026.

Previously, US President Donald Trump appeared in a video affirming that the US coordinated with Israel to attack Iran's military infrastructure. Mr. Trump declared that the goal of the campaign is to "fully neutralize" Tehran's missile and nuclear capabilities to protect US national security.

The coalition's attacks were reported to have hit many strategic positions in Tehran, Qom and Isfahan, causing large explosions and black smoke columns covering the Iranian capital.

In parallel with the armed conflict, a widespread cybersecurity war has caused the telecommunications and Internet systems in Iran to be almost completely disrupted.

Israeli authorities have declared a state of national emergency, closed schools and asked people to move into shelters. Meanwhile, neighboring countries such as Iraq and Jordan have also announced the closure of airspace to avoid risks from unidentified flying objects.

In Washington, many experts warn that direct US engagement could lead to a prolonged consumption conflict. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Operation "Lion's Roar" is necessary to eliminate the existential threat from Tehran's nuclear program.

Currently, both sides are mobilizing maximum forces along the border and at strategic bases, ready for the next waves of fighting that may break out tonight.

Currently, Iran has not been able to give an official response due to severe network infrastructure damage, while pressure from the US fleet is still maintained at its highest level. The results of this missile launch not only determine the future of the region but also directly impact the global energy market in the coming hours.
