According to Xinhua News Agency, the statement was made during a meeting between Mr. al-Zaidi and Commander of the US Central Command Brad Cooper.
The Iraqi Prime Minister's Office informed that the two sides reaffirmed the agreement to terminate the military mission of the international coalition as planned in Mr. al-Zaidi's visit to Washington in mid-July.
The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that October 1 will open a new phase for Iraq, when this country no longer has foreign military forces present.
He also said that putting all weapons under state control according to legal regulations is an important condition to protect sovereignty, stability and promote the development of Iraq in the future.
The US-led international coalition has been present in Iraq for many years to support this country in fighting the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization.
