According to Xinhua News Agency, on August 4 (local time), Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum continued to speak out against US tariff policies. Sheinbaum said that there are more effective ways to strengthen the regional economy and resolve trade disputes between countries.
At a regular press conference at the Presidential Palace, Ms. Claudia Sheinbaum said: "We do not agree with taxing and almost all other countries do too.
According to the Mexican President, although trade policy is the US Government's decision, there are still more effective ways to promote regional economic development.
The statement was made in the context of President Donald Trump's trade policy being increasingly controversial in the US, after 25 US states filed lawsuits against the new tariffs applied widely to imports from most US trading partners.
The lawsuit filed with the US International Trade Court requested the cancellation of the 10% and 12.5% tariffs arguing that these tariffs exceed the legal authority of the country's executive branch.
