The threat was made right before Trump's visit to the Texas Hill Country, which has just suffered severe flooding.
According to court documents, Robert Herrera (52 years old) was accused of posting a threatening comment on the Facebook page of a local news agency, using an account named Robert Herrer. In the post, he wrote: "I will not slide", along with an image of Mr. Trump right after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania in 2024.
When questioned by another person, Herrera is said to have replied: "I will come find you", and posted an additional photo of a fully loaded rifle and ammunition.
President Trump survived an assassination attempt at a Butler rally last July. At that time, the attackers hit his ear, killing one person in the crowd and injuring two others, before being killed by US Secret Service sneakers.
The incident led to many criticisms of the loophole in security work. After that, Ms. Kimberly Cheatle - Director of the US Secret Service at that time - resigned. 6 Secret Service staff have also been suspended after the agency completed a long internal investigation to determine the cause of security violations at the event.
This is not the only threat to Mr. Trump in recent times. In September last year, another man was arrested while setting up a shooting location around Trump's golf course in Florida.
Just over a month ago, the US Immigration Department (ICE) also arrested a Mexicoan named Ramon Morales-Reyes for a handwritten letter threatening to kill the president.
However, Morales-Reyes was later released after another suspect confessed to writing the letter and intentionally blaming Morales-Reyes for the purpose of sending him for deportation, thereby preventing Morales-Reyes from testifying at a trial.
