The airstrike occurred after Washington accused Tehran of attacking a cargo ship, shaking the ceasefire agreement in the Middle East.
The US Central Command said that the airstrikes were a response to "unprovoked acts of aggression against Iranian merchant ships" that "clearly violated the ceasefire agreement".
The US described the operation as "a strong response to yesterday's attack on a merchant ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz".
According to AFP, Iranian state television quoted a reporter in Sirik as saying that an explosion was heard late on June 26 at Taherouyeh wharf in the southern port city.
Military sources said the explosion was caused by a flying object colliding in the area.
Previously, US President Donald Trump reacted to Iran's drone attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The incident raises new questions about efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz clear while Washington and Tehran negotiate a final solution to the conflict that broke out on February 28.
Iran warned ships not to enter or leave the Gulf region through the Strait of Hormuz without permission, however, many ships are still moving and some ships use routes not approved by Tehran.
About half of the 42 ships passing through the strait on June 25 used the unapproved southern route along the Oman coast, according to the Kpler tracking platform.
The United Nations Maritime Administration said that an evacuation operation has rescued 115 ships and 2,500 crew members trapped and forced to temporarily stop.
