US tries to strengthen ceasefire between Israel and Iran

The US is steadily promoting peace between Israel and Iran.

The ceasefire between Iran and Israel brokered by US President Donald Trump is said to be maintained, despite violations from Tehran and Tel Aviv.

US President's special Middle East delegate Steve Witkoff and the diplomatic delegation are urgently re-connecting the channel of direct dialogue with Iran and coordinating through intermediaries.

Mr. Witkoff revealed that the exchange process is having positive changes and the immediate goal is to strengthen a ceasefire, rather than a peace agreement for the whole region.

On the sides, both Iran and Israel declared victory.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation had eliminated the threat from nuclear weapons and tens of thousands of Iranian ballistic missiles.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called it a big win and expressed his willingness to resolve the disagreement with the US.

The conflict began on June 13, when Israel suddenly attacked Iranian nuclear facilities and eliminated many senior military commanders.

Iran immediately retaliated with a series of missiles targeting military targets in Israel. The US also took part in a joint airstrike to destroy Iran's uranium enrichment facilities.

Israel has lifted military restrictions and reopened Ben Gurion airport; Iran has also restored airspace. However, observers warned that the ceasefire is extremely fragile, especially as both sides remain combat readiness.
