ceasefire between Israel and Iran collapsed after a few hours

The Israel-Iran ceasefire on June 24 was said to have collapsed after several hours, with both sides accusing each other of violating the deal.

On June 24, the ceasefire between Israel and Iran seemed to have been broken shortly after it was reached. Tel Aviv accused Tehran of launching missiles into its airspace, and pledged retaliation.

Just hours after the ceasefire took effect, two Iranian missiles entered Israeli airspace but were shot down, an Israeli official said.

Meanwhile, Iranian media insists the country's military did not violate the ceasefire, accusing Israel of being the violator of the deal.

Upon receiving the information from Iran, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz immediately instructed the Israeli military to resume "heavy attacks on Iran and destroy regime targets and terrorist infrastructure".

For his part, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House before leaving for the NATO summit in The Hague that, in his view, both sides violated the young deal he had previously announced.

"I am not satisfied with Israel," the US leader said.

On social media, Trump also called on Israel to stop dropping bombs and bring his pilots home.

The conflict, now in its 12 days, began when Israel targeted Iran's nuclear and military sites on June 13, stating it could not allow Tehran to develop nuclear weapons.

Iran also took strong retaliatory actions afterwards, affirming that its nuclear program was purely for peaceful purposes and in compliance with the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
