Mr. Sergey Mironov, leader of the "A Just Russia - For Truth" party, said that the explosion at the Sudzha gas station by Ukrainian forces may have involved British forces, in order to escalate the conflict and undermine US President Donald Trump's peace efforts.
The Sudzha gas station is part of the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline, which carries Russian gas to Europe via Ukraine.
According to Mr. Mironov, the explosion at the Sudzha gas station was not just a simple military act but also a "show" to destabilize the region and undermine President Trump's efforts to negotiate peace.
"He is looking for a way to escalate the conflict and it is very likely they are behind this attack. This is a clear provincial move to sabotage peace initiatives," Mironov told Russian news agency TASS.
Mr. Mironov said that the explosion in Sudzha followed a familiar Western scenario - blaming Russia for the main sabotage of its infrastructure.
"Ukrainian media immediately launched a propaganda campaign, following the West's formula, to defame Russia," Mr. Mironov argued.
The Russian politician also accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the conflict to maintain power, with support from the UK.
" London not only encourages Kiev to continue fighting but is also ready to face Washington to pursue its own interests," Mr. Mironov affirmed.
The Russian Defense Ministry previously said that the Kiev government had deliberately destroyed the Sudzha gas station in Russia's Kursk region in the early morning of March 21, causing serious damage to infrastructure near the Russia-Ukraine border.
The Russian Defense Ministry stressed the attack as a deliberate Provocation, aimed at discrediting the peace initiatives that the Trump administration is promoting.
