According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in recent days, the "bottleneck" on the route reserved for bicycles and pedestrians along To Lich River (from house number 732 - 738 Lang Street) has been dismantled.
Previously, a barrier about 40m long and 2m high was erected across the road reserved for bicycles and pedestrians along the To Lich River to serve the construction of a wastewater collection system (under the Yen Xa Wastewater Treatment Project).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trang ( Quan Hoa ward, Cau Giay) said that the fence was erected over a long period of time, leading to this road being congested, affecting the walking and cycling activities of some people.
In addition, some shops encroach on the space of the road along To Lich River, making the road shabby, many people are not interested in going here but choose to travel on the Lang road next to it.

According to research, the route dedicated to bicycles and pedestrians will officially come into operation from February 1, 2024. The road is 4m wide and 2.3km long along the To Lich River (from Nga Tu So to Cau Giay).
The project is being implemented to improve the use of public transport by Hanoi people. Many public bicycle stations have been installed along the route to connect with bus stations and urban railways.
However, according to recent records of Lao Dong Newspaper, the road reserved for bicycles and pedestrians fell into a gloomy situation, with few people passing through, contrary to the project's initial expectations.
The To Lich River next to the road is still in the process of being treated, causing polluted air and a strong stench on hot days.
Many people who use bicycles still travel on the main road for motorbikes and cars instead of using this route. Public bicycle stations along the route have not attracted people to use.

As a regular exercise worker in this area, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (59 years old, Dong Da) said that this route is still crowded with people walking and cycling in the late afternoon, while other times are always deserted.
Ms. Hanh said that the construction of a road for bicycles and pedestrians to improve health but piloted next to the polluted To Lich River has somewhat reduced the attraction for people.
"I think if the landscape and atmosphere here are improved, it will attract more people" - Ms. Hanh said.
According to the people's reflection, because the connection of public transport with this route is not really convenient, people are not interested in using it.
