Russia is ready to sign an agreement on resolving the Ukrainian conflict, but some terms of the future agreement have not been agreed and Moscow is making adjustments, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"The US President's statement refers to an agreement and we are ready to reach an agreement, but there are still some specific points, the elements of this agreement need to be refined. We are busy with this process," Lavrov said on April 24 in an interview with CBS News.
Some excerpts from the interview were broadcast on the evening of April 24. The full version will air on April 27.
Previously, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that an agreement on a resolution of the Ukrainian conflict would be reached this week. On April 23, the US President said he had set a time frame for negotiations on a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis but did not disclose them.
CNN reported that on April 23, US President Donald Trump harshly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling Zelensky's statement not recognizing Russia's control of the Crimean peninsula "harmful to the peace negotiations with Russia".
Such provincial statements make it extremely difficult to end the conflict. Mr. Zelensky has nothing to be proud of! The situation in Ukraine is extremely critical, or he chooses peace, or he will have to fight for another 3 years before losing the whole country" - President Donald Trump wrote an "ultimatum" on the social network Truth Social.
On the same day, Trump announced that Russia had agreed to a deal to end the conflict in Ukraine, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had not changed his stance.
