Iranian oil tanker hit by US missiles near Kharg Island, amid escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

On September 5, according to Xinhua news agency, an Iranian oil tanker was attacked by US forces in an area about 10km south of Kharg Island, Iran.

According to sources, 4 shells launched by US forces hit an Iranian oil tanker.

However, the attack did not cause casualties. Crew members were evacuated from the ship.

Earlier the same day, Iranian media reported on explosions near Kharg Island, an important area for Iran's oil exports.

The incident took place in the context of escalating tensions in the Hormuz Strait area after airstrikes by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28.

After these attacks, Iran is currently restricting operations through the Strait of Hormuz, preventing ships linked to the US or Israel from passing through. Meanwhile, US forces are imposing sea blockades targeting ships moving to or from Iran's ports and coastal areas.

Information about the type of ship and the extent of damage has not yet been released. The US side has not commented on the above incident.
