King Charles III on July 20 appointed Mr. Andy Burnham as British Prime Minister after Mr. Keir Starmer officially resigned, according to an announcement from the Buckingham Palace.

Congressman Andrew Burnham has accepted the king's offer and completed the inauguration ceremony according to royal protocol after being appointed Prime Minister" - Buckingham Palace informed, adding that the king has asked Mr. Burnham to form the next government.

After completing the ceremony at the palace, Mr. Burnham will deliver his first speech at 10 Downing Street, in which he is expected to present priorities to restore confidence in the government, promote growth and decentralize power to regional communities.

It is expected that on July 20, he may announce high-level cabinet appointments and all attention is focused on the person who will replace Ms. Rachel Reeves as Minister of Finance.

Mr. Andrew Burnham is the former mayor of Greater Manchester, known as the "King of the North". Mr. Burnham served as a member of parliament from 2001 to 2017, holding the position of minister in the governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

Before the appointment of Mr. Andrew Burnham took place, Mr. Keir Starmer gave his final speech when leaving Downing Street on July 20.
