Hun Sen shared on the evening of May 28 that Thai soldiers attacked the Cambodian army in the Mome Bei border area in Preah Vihear province, Fresh News reported.

Mr. Hun Sen sent his condolences to the family of the Cambodian soldier killed in the clash.

"A border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development should not happen like that" - the President of the Cambodian Senate emphasized and affirmed that he did not want to see any armed conflict break out.

"I hope there will be no tension along the border between the two countries to the extent of hindering cooperation in other fields that are beneficial to both countries," Hun Sen said.

Senate Speaker Hun Sen also called on Cambodian people not to escalate the conflict and to believe in a peaceful resolution.

The gunfight between Cambodian soldiers and Thai soldiers took place on the morning of May 28 at the border area between Cambodia's Preah Vihear province and Thailand's Ubon Ratchathani province.

Cambodian forces misunderstood the situation and began using weapons, so Thai forces responded, Winthai said, revealing that the fighting lasted about 10 minutes. There were no casualties on the Thai military side in the latest clash with Cambodia.
