In an interview with podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen, former US President Barack Obama shared about what he knew about extraterrestrial life when he was in the White House.
When asked directly "Are the aliens real?", Mr. Obama replied: "They are real, but I haven't seen them and they are not held in Area 51." He added that there is no underground facility, unless there is a "giant conspiracy" to hide that information from the US President himself.
Before the question about the first thing he wanted to know when taking office, Mr. Obama joked: "Where are the aliens?". However, he did not clearly explain why he affirmed they were real, nor did he say whether it was official information or personal opinions.
The topic of unidentified phenomena has increasingly attracted attention in recent years. From 2022 to 2025, many hearings in the US Congress focused on the so-called "Unidentified Phenomena" (UAP).
In 2023, NPR reported that retired Major David Grusch, who used to participate in the Pentagon's UAP Task Force, told the national security subcommittee of the House Surveillance Committee that he was denied access to some government UFO programs. Mr. Grusch said he knew "exact locations" of UAPs held by the US, and accused the US of recalling "non-human biological materials" from the pilots of these vehicles.
In the summer of 2025, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, head of the Federal Secret Enforcement Task Force of the House Surveillance Committee, said in an exchange with Joe Rogan that she had seen evidence of "interdimensional entities". Ms. Luna said that based on the photos she saw, she believes there are things out there that are not human-made.
The above statements and testimonies continue to spark public debate about the possibility of extraterrestrial life and the level of transparency of the US government.
