On August 12, the Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone call with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, informing Kim Jong-un of an expected meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska this week.
North Korea's KCNA news agency also reported on the meeting but did not mention a meeting schedule between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump.
During the phone call, the two leaders discussed the progress in bilateral relations on the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed last year, expressing their determination to strengthen cooperation in the future.
According to KCNA, Mr. Putin expressed his appreciation for North Korea's support in the conflict with Ukraine, and praised the "courage, heroism and sacrifice" of the soldiers of the North Korean People's Army.
