Pantone announced that the color that will shape next year is Viva Magenta. This is the brilliant color of the red group.
Viva Magenta is described as a "dark red tone with a balance of warmth and coolness". Viva Magenta is "a unique nuance for an unusual time," Pantone stated in its color announcement for 2023.
Leatrice Eiseman, CEO of Pantone Color Institute, said the Viva Magenta color is inspired by a natural red dye derived from a small insect called cochineals.
"As the virtual world becomes a more prominent part of our daily lives, we seek inspiration from nature and what is real," said director Eiseman.
" Originating from primitive, Viva Magenta connects us with the original material," Leatrice Eiseman added. awakening natural forces, it encourages our spirit, helping us build our inner strength".
The choice of Pantone coloring center aims to reflect the latest trends in the fields of fashion, beauty, technology, design and interior decoration.
Pantone has chosen the color of the year every year for more than two decades. In 2016, Pantone chose a color strip from two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity, to reflect a year determined by gender discussions. In 2020, Pantone chose not just one but two colors: Ultimate Gray and illuminating as the color of the year to express both resilience and optimism in the first year of the pandemic.
Last year, Pantone chose very Peri as the color of the year - marking the first time a new color was created as the color of the year instead of using existing colors.
