Global stock markets continued to maintain green in the morning trading session of September 22 as the wave of excitement around artificial intelligence (AI) and the decline in oil prices triggered a widespread buying wave, according to AFP.
Meta technology stock soared 11% after virtual assistant Muse launched in September 2026, quickly climbing to the top of the download chart. This tool is intuitively designed on a separate application or directly integrated into WhatsApp, supporting ordinary users to book travel tickets, send emails and shop online.
Optimism from Wall Street quickly spread to the Asian market after the Nasdaq technology index closed the previous session with an impressive increase of 2.3%. In South Korea, the Kospi index increased by 1.7%, while Taiwan's Taiex index (China) increased by 1.4% thanks to the pull from chip giant TSMC. On the Shanghai exchange, the Composite index edged up 0.2% to 3,959.32 points, while the Tokyo exchange temporarily closed for the holiday.
Besides the technological boost, investors are turning their attention to Washington D.C. ahead of the summit on September 24 between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Earlier on September 20, top economic negotiators of the two countries met in New York to discuss the establishment of an AI risk handling communication channel and finding tariff agreement solutions.
The financial market is also being boosted when crude oil prices cool down after a signal from Donald Trump about the possibility of meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of this week's United Nations General Assembly session. At the same time, Saudi Arabia's oil corporation is flexibly shifting its export network through the Persian Gulf to overcome disrupted shipping routes in the Red Sea after attacks by Houthi forces.
Although WTI oil prices slightly increased by 0.4% to 96.19 USD per barrel and Brent oil to 101.04 USD per barrel on the morning of September 22, cooling geopolitical risks still created positive room for stock capital flows.
