Reuters reported that on July 27, three Russian warships docked at Havana port (Cuba) in the second friendly visit of the Russian naval fleet to this Caribbean island nation in the last two months.
The patrol ship Neustrahimiy, the training ship Smolniy and the oil tanker Yelnya all belong to the Baltic Fleet, remaining in Havana port until July 30.
A brief statement by the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces described the visit of the Russian warship as a historical practice of the Cuban revolutionary government with countries with which Havana has friendly and cooperative relations.
Previously, in June, a Russian nuclear submarine, frigate and support ship also arrived in Havana port.
"Russia's deployment in the Atlantic does not pose a direct threat or concern to the United States," a spokesman for the US Northern Command said, adding that the command had monitor all approaches to North America.
Tensions between the US and Russia have increased since the Ukraine conflict that began in 2022, and Russian naval activity - albeit often in the Atlantic - has increased due to US support for with Ukraine, US officials said.
Russia has been bringing oil, flour and more and more tourists to Cuba recently.
