Turkish cargo ship attacked by UAV in Black Sea

    A Turkish cargo ship was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) off the coast of Novorossiysk port, Russia in the Black Sea.

    According to TASS, Turkish media reported that the Cameroon-flagged Nadezhda ship was attacked by 6-7 Ukrainian UAVs while operating in the Black Sea.

    The attack occurred at about 4:30 PM (local time), causing the ship to catch fire and some areas on board were damaged. Initial information said that 4 people on board were injured.

    The Turkish Ministry of Transport said that there were 22 crew members on board, including 13 Turkish citizens. After the attack, the entire crew was safely evacuated by the Russian navy to Novorossiysk port.

    The agency said that the fire is still continuing, while rescue operations on the ship cannot be deployed due to the risk of further UAV attacks in the area.

    The Nadezhda is 118m long, of the Ro-Ro type. The ship was built in Denmark in 1978 and has IMO number 7702657.

    The ship is operated by the Turkish company Kalyoncu Ro Ro Denizcilik and is transporting fruits and vegetables from this country to Russia.
