Faced with new developments related to the situation in the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant domestic agencies on February 28 directed Vietnamese representative agencies in Iran and Israel to closely coordinate with domestic functional agencies, Vietnamese representative agencies in neighboring areas and local agencies to closely monitor the situation, ready to deploy necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens and representative headquarters.
According to the latest information from Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel and Iran, the situation of Vietnamese citizens in the area is currently safe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens not visit Iran and Israel at the present time, and not visit neighboring areas affected by the conflict if not really necessary. Citizens currently in Iran, Israel and related areas are requested to maintain contact, regularly monitor information from Vietnamese representative agencies, strictly comply with local authorities' regulations on travel as well as warnings from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To receive support, Vietnamese citizens in Iran and Israel can contact the citizen protection hotline of the Vietnamese Embassy in the two countries and the Citizen Protection Switchboard of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On February 28, answering reporters' questions about Vietnam's reaction to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized Vietnam's deep concern about the complex developments of conflict, seriously threatening the lives and safety of people, peace and stability of the region as well as the world.
Vietnam calls on relevant parties to exercise maximum restraint, immediately stop actions that increase tensions, protect civilians and essential infrastructure, resolve disagreements by peaceful means, comply with international law, the Charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, and create conditions for peaceful negotiations for regional security, safety and stability.
