The video of the launch shows a P-800 Onyx missile being launched into the air across the sea with the aim of simulating the ships of a group of enemy ships. The P-800 Onyx missile can travel at speeds of up to nearly 3,200km/h.
According to RT, Bastion's launch team can transport 2 Onyx anti-ship missiles. These missiles can target targets with a range of up to 300km in parabol orbit or 120km in low-altitude orbit. Although designed to destroy ships, the P-800 Onyx missile could also be used to attack ground targets.
The first three Bastion mobile coastguard complexes were adopted by the Russian army in 2010. Since then, the system has been used in combat in Syria.
In November 2016, Russia used these launchers to shoot down several missiles at IS positions in Idlib and Homs provinces.
This long-range system has also been put into operation in the Black Sea fleet and the Russian Northern fleet.
