On October 3, the Peri 9-Ball Open Pool 2024 tournament will take place in the Last 64, Last 32 and Last 16 rounds. Before the Last 64 round, Vietnam had 10 players including Do The Kien, Luong Duc Thien, Nguyen Van Huynh, Pham Phuong Nam, Nguyen Viet Tam, Nguyen Hoang Tuan, Nguyen Bao Chau, Tran Vo Dung, Bui Truong An and Duong Quoc Hoang.
However, entering the round of 32, the host only had The Kien, Duc Thien, Viet Tam, Hoang Tuan and Bao Chau left. Quoc Hoang was the most notable name to stop. The Scottish Open champion lost to former world number 1 Francisco Sanchez Ruiz with a score of 3-9.
Another surprise of the round of 64 was Fedor Gorst, who was defeated 9-4 by the little-known Greek player, Dimitris Loukatos.
After round 32, two more Vietnamese players could not continue: Bao Chau and Viet Tam. Notably, a series of world names such as Shane Van Boening, Carlo Biado, Johann Chua, Aloysius Yapp, Ko Pin Yi also said goodbye to the tournament early.
All expectations of host Vietnam in the Last 16 round are placed on The Kien, Duc Thien and Hoang Tuan. Duc Thien is the one who won the earliest ticket to the quarterfinals.
It seemed that the player from Bac Kan would have a hard time against a strong opponent from the Philippines, Baseth Mocaibat, however, the match was completely opposite to the prediction. Duc Thien had an excellent match, made no mistakes in single ball situations and quickly won 9-1.
After Duc Thien, Hoang Tuan defeated his opponent, Gallito Paulo, also from the Philippines. Hoang Tuan's presence in the top 8 players is considered a surprise, because he was not among the names with high expectations at this year's Peri 9-Ball Open.
The match between The Kien and Mickey Krause was exciting and tense. Against the reigning European Open 2024 champion, “Kien Phap” started well and led 6-1. However, the second half of the match belonged to the Danish player.
He won 6 games in a row and then led 7-6. The match then went uphill with the chance to win the match going to “Kien Phap” when he had the right to break in the deciding game. In the open ball position, unfortunately, he made a 6 ball and then gave Krause the ticket to the quarterfinals.
Thus, Vietnam will have Duc Thien and Hoang Tuan participating in the quarterfinals of Peri 9-Ball Open 2024. The quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals of Peri 9-Ball Open will take place on October 4.

In its second year of organization, Peri 9-Ball Open is a tournament in the WNT ranking system (the most prestigious player ranking in the world under Matchroom) that has created a reputation for professional quality with the participation of the world's top players, Asia, Vietnam and impressed the players with its organization as well as facilities.
The tournament is large-scale, with 256 players, including 100 players in the top of the WNT rankings. The total prize fund is 110,000 USD (about 2.5 billion VND).
