Vietnamese women's volleyball is not weak
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team participated in the 2023 Asian Women's Club Championship (under the name Sports Center 1) and won the championship. Now, we have LPB Ninh Binh as our female representative participating in the 2024 Asian Women's Club Championship and finishing as runner-up. Last year, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team ranked fourth in the 2024 Asian Championship and continued to rank fourth at the 19th ASIAD.
In terms of professional results, it reflects that Vietnamese women's volleyball is not weak in Asia. Notably, in the Asian women's volleyball tournament, the AVC Challenge Cup in 2023 and 2024, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won both championships.
At the recent 2024 Asian Women's Club Championship in Thailand, players from LPB Ninh Binh and Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals were the most outstanding representatives at the club level, demonstrating their professional mark for Vietnamese women's volleyball.
However, the fact that a team (at club level) is willing to register for the tournament in order to make a professional change shows the confidence of the team's manager.
If there is investment, the development opportunity is positive.
The representative of the LPB Ninh Binh women's team's coaching board shared that, when participating in this Asian-level tournament, we can see that the investment in women's volleyball in Vietnam is still lower than that of teams in the same continent, not to mention the world.
The women's team NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki (Japan) - the team that won LPB Ninh Binh in the final - is a concrete proof of full investment. Just counting the coaching staff going to work, this team registered 8 people, including physiotherapists, fitness experts, data analysts, team leaders... The host team Nakhon Ratchasima QimC (Thailand) also arranged the same personnel for its volleyball team.
“The role of the head coach is to direct the team and the coaching staff is to assist and do their best for the team. Having all the staff in the coaching staff like this has helped to lead the team better,” the tournament’s technical supervisor said.
This time, LPB Ninh Binh team has a coaching staff of only 4 members to manage professional work. Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemical women's team also only registered 4 members in the coaching staff. Both teams do not have members participating in filming or data analysis.
Each local unit and the Vietnam Volleyball Team itself fully understand the necessary points regarding personnel in their team. The most difficult thing is still funding. The Vietnamese women's volleyball teams or Vietnamese volleyball in general have not been fully completed. The two teams LPB Ninh Binh and Hoa Chat Duc Giang Lao Cai are the teams that enjoy the best policies from the parent unit for players.
Currently, the Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemical Women's Team is the only team in Vietnam that is built and invested in by a boss (businessman Dao Huu Huyen). To some extent, they know the most basic investment. However, how to fully invest in a volleyball team will need time to answer. No specific figures have been given by any unit about the investment in a volleyball team, but certainly, the number is up to billions of VND/year.
Vietnamese volleyball is looking for a more complete direction to move towards semi-professionalism. To achieve that, many factors will be needed from professional competition solutions, sponsorship resources, television copyright, advertising... Each team participating in the domestic volleyball tournament is the core to the success of Vietnamese volleyball in general. When everyone does well in sports economics with stable financial resources, the team will be fully invested, from which Vietnamese volleyball in general will develop more.
