The 2024 National U23 Volleyball Tournament is taking place in Bac Kan. In the group stage, the U23 Information Corps women's team won 3 matches, lost 1, ranked 2nd in Group B with 8 points, along with U23 VTV Binh Dien Long An but with a better coefficient.
In the recent matches, striker Quynh Huong and setter Van Anh were the two pillars of the team.
With Quynh Huong, the main striker born in 2008 has emerged in many recent youth tournaments. With a height of 1m87, a jumping ability of up to 3m and a blocking range of 2m89, the 16-year-old hitter quickly left an impression when actively participating in both the offensive and defensive fronts of the home team. Quynh Huong's strength is her powerful smashes that penetrate the block.
Despite her young age, the fact that she has been able to continuously compete at the club level as well as the Vietnam U20 women's team gives Quynh Huong a certain confidence when playing on the field.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once shared: "It's been a long time since Vietnamese volleyball had a potential athlete with great height and strength like Pham Quynh Huong. She has strength and good range but lacks flexibility."
Although he still needs to be further polished in terms of technique and physical strength, the hitter of the U23 Information Corps is still a valuable rough diamond, expected to develop further in the future.
One of the factors that helped Quynh Huong have sharp attacks was the skillful, well-placed passes from setter Dinh Ngoc Van Anh.
The setter was born in 2008, is 1m75 tall, has a jump of 2m78 and a block of 2m75. This is the first year Van Anh has been a main player in the youth team of the Information Corps. However, she left a strong impression when the coaching staff gave her the opportunity to play.
Van Anh has relatively stable passes and good blocking ability. The 16-year-old setter is the name that contributed to changing the game, helping U23 Binh Chung Thong Tin win against U23 Binh Dien Long An - the match was considered the most attractive and dramatic in the group stage.
The National U23 Tournament is an opportunity for young players from many volleyball teams to test themselves, compete and gain experience. With stable performance and determination, Quynh Huong and Van Anh are the impressive duo in this year's tournament, promising to be the bright stars of the Information Corps volleyball in the future.
