The Vietnamese women's volleyball team ended 2024 with many impressive achievements. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team won the SEA V.League runner-up position in both stages, won the AVC Challenge Cup (Asia) for the second consecutive time, won the FIVB Challenger Cup (world) for the first time, and recently won the VTV Cup 2024 international tournament.
In 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will continue to participate in international competitions. In particular, Bich Tuyen and her teammates will participate for the first time in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, a playground that brings together many strong teams in the world such as Türkiye, Brazil, Germany, USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, Serbia...
This is a rare opportunity for Vietnamese volleyball to compete and gain experience from developed volleyball backgrounds, while also asserting itself in the world arena.
In fact, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team determined that participating in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship is not a "walk in the park". The coaching staff and athletes are aiming for thorough physical and professional preparation as well as a clear roadmap for the next nearly year.
Accordingly, Vietnamese women's volleyball needs more quality training trips not only domestically but also abroad. The opportunity to exchange and learn helps players improve their skills, playing style and confidence before stepping out into the "big sea".
In terms of expertise, the Vietnamese women's team needs to improve a lot in the first pass. In recent tournaments, it is easy to see that players often make mistakes in the first pass, leading to losing points or letting attack opportunities pass by.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once shared that improving step 1 cannot be done in a day or two. Therefore, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation as well as the team's coaching staff need to have a specific roadmap within the next year to partly solve the team's weaknesses.
Besides, in addition to Bich Tuyen as the main hitter, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team aims to build a flexible playing style, diverse attacks, and share scoring with other positions.
Currently, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Vi Nhu Quynh and Le Thanh Thuy are doing this well. Therefore, players need to continue to develop their strengths, hone their scoring skills, not only with quick shots at the net but also with more solid backcourt shots.
In addition, another important thing is to renew the Vietnamese team. Most likely, through the upcoming national championship as well as some domestic tournaments next year, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will evaluate and call up some new faces to ensure their form, potential and ability to compete with the Vietnamese women's team in international playgrounds.
