In the second phase of SEA V.League 2025, the Vietnam women's volleyball team made history when defeating Thailand to win the championship.
This victory also ended 25 years of a 44-match streak of Vietnamese women's volleyball without a win.
Immediately after the tournament, President of the Thai Volleyball Federation - Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang shared some noteworthy things.
"Congratulations to the Vietnam team, we must give them credit for their success at the SEA V.League 2025, creating history for their volleyball.
We need to sit together to discuss what happened and find a direction, especially ahead of the world championship, Somporn stressed.
Many Thai fans are concerned that the failure at the SEA V.League will affect the home team's performance at the upcoming 2025 World Cup and the 33rd SEA Games.
Regarding this issue, the President of the Thai Volleyball Federation said: "I think it will not affect much, but it may have a little impact. A defeat can affect emotions.
However, most volleyball fans have been following us for a long time and they understand. Everything has ups and downs. I believe people will understand that these things happen as a natural cycle of their own."
Mr. Somporn also added: "For our part, we have to find a way to develop to catch up and overcome them, so that they can't keep up. At the same time, Thai volleyball must aim for world class.
We clearly see that Vietnamese women's volleyball has developed a lot. Therefore, Thailand must also look at world class and maintain its position".
After the 2025 SEA V.League, the Thai and Vietnamese women's volleyball teams will participate in the World Championship taking place from August 22 to September 7.
