According to this department, in 2021, the Than Quang Ninh men's football club disbanded, and many fans in the mining region are looking forward to the re-establishment of the men's football team.
On July 1, 2024, Quang Ninh Football Development Joint Stock Company was established and headquartered in Ha Long city and named the football team Quang Ninh FC to represent Quang Ninh province in the National Third Division Football Tournament for men's football.
This is the result of the joint efforts of all levels, sectors, especially enterprises, in establishing and participating in the national football tournament, creating the premise and motivation to build Quang Ninh football back to the playing field at the V.League National Football Championship in the future.
The Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Ninh province proposed the Department of Physical Training and Sports and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to allow Quang Ninh FC football team of Quang Ninh Football Development Joint Stock Company to participate in the national third-class football tournament, men's football, in 2024.
Quang Ninh Football Development Joint Stock Company has a charter capital of 200 billion VND, chaired by Mr. Doan Khanh Tung.
Previously, sharing with Lao Dong, a representative of Quang Ninh Football Development Joint Stock Company said that to support the Quang Ninh men's football team, in the short term, a number of businesses in the province contributed capital but according to an open mechanism, so that later, any business, unit, or individual who has the conditions and wants to contribute to the team can do so.
With this mechanism, the football team will not belong to any boss, but to the people of Quang Ninh. This is to avoid the situation where when a business or individual is in difficulty or does not want to play football anymore, the team is at risk of disbanding.
It is estimated that the cost of raising the team to compete from the 3rd division to the 1st division is 60-70 billion VND (3 seasons). Quang Ninh Club aims to move up a division each year and return to the highest level - V.League after 3 more years.
It is known that to serve the above plan, Quang Ninh Club has invited 3 famous and experienced personnel, from the time they were players to the time they were coaches, to join the Club's coaching staff.
In particular, Coach Tran Minh Chien will take on the position of Technical Director of the Quang Ninh team. The head coach of the Quang Ninh club is Mr. Nguyen Van Dan - a former striker of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai club, who worked as an assistant at this team and most recently led Phu Dong Ninh Binh to finish in 5th place in the 2023-2024 First Division.
In particular, the coaching staff also includes goalkeeper coach Vo Van Hanh - a former national player and winner of the Vietnam Golden Ball award and has experience in coaching goalkeepers in youth teams, Ho Chi Minh City team, and Vietnam national team.
