Coach Nguyen Hong Pham said that Ho Chi Minh City club is discussing keeping striker Huynh Nhu.

Ho Chi Minh City Club has officially won a ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Women's Cup. After 3 matches in Group C, Ho Chi Minh City won 6 points after 2 wins and 1 draw.

The quarter-finals of this tournament will begin in March 2025. However, Huynh Nhu's current contract with Ho Chi Minh City club only lasts until the end of 2024.

Sharing at the press conference after the match with Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan) in the final round of Group C on the evening of October 12, coach Nguyen Hong Pham said that the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club is discussing to continue extending the contract with Huynh Nhu.

"We and Huynh Nhu are discussing the future, partly due to the player's decision, partly due to the coordination between the two sides. I want to keep Huynh Nhu because she is a very necessary player for the team," coach Nguyen Hong Pham shared.

In addition to Huynh Nhu, Mr. Pham also expressed his desire to continue working with three American foreign players: midfielder Tatiana Mason, center back Talani Barnet and striker Root Medhan Callahan.

He said: "Regarding the 3 foreign players, we are very satisfied. They contribute greatly to the overall playing style of the team. We want to create more opportunities for young players, so we withdrew the foreign players. However, the 3 foreign players have performed well. I want to stick with them in the upcoming journey."

In the final round of Group C, despite having to face the championship candidate Urawa Red Diamonds, HCMC still played very resiliently. Conceding only 2 goals against the team from Japan is considered an encouraging achievement for coach Nguyen Hong Pham and his team.

"After 3 rounds, the coaching staff is very satisfied with the players' fighting spirit and their utmost efforts. Second is the spirit of solidarity. Ho Chi Minh City achieved this result thanks to solidarity, plus the guidance of key players," coach Nguyen Hong Pham emphasized.
