LeBron (39) and Bronny James (20) made history at the US Professional Basketball League (NBA) on Tuesday (local time), becoming the first father-son pair to play together in an official match of the season when Los Angeles Lakers defeated Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103.
They played together in a pre-season game earlier this month. In the latest match, they were on the court together late in the second half at the Crypto.com Arena, when the Lakers were leading 51-35.
The crowd cheered for James and his son to get to the scoring table to get on the court, when the Lakers took a double-digit lead.
As he prepared to enter the court, LeBron told Bronny, "Are you ready? You feel the intensity? Just play comfortably."
In a moment that was perfectly documented with a strong Hollywood feel, the performance of James and his son was presented by Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., who made history in Major League Baseball playing as a father and son for the Seattle Mariners in 1990-1991.
"That moment is something I will never forget, no matter how old I get, my memory can fade as I get older or whatever. I will never forget that moment," said LeBron, who started Tuesday by celebrating his daughter Zhuri Nova's 10th birthday.
"Everything was great today, everything - from the moment I woke up. Obviously this is the first time in the beautiful history of NBA that a father and son have been on the same floor, let alone on the same team. It's great."
However, Bronny's start was quite difficult, with 2 minutes and 41 seconds on the field, making 2 unsuccessful shots before being substituted.
He expressed gratitude for the "energy" the Lakers fans showed him.
NBA superstar LeBron - who will turn 40 in December, admitted in his pre-match speech that he could hardly contain his excitement at the prospect of turning his long-standing dream into reality, which was to share the court with his son.
LeBron also said that he really liked to accompany his son in the first steps into professional basketball.
Bronny was selected by the Lakers with the 55th pick in the draft in June.
