On 6 July, news of Lukaku joining Manchester United for £75 million flooded all over the major news sites. The Belgian striker is currently in the US with Pogba and is ready for a medical examination to complete the procedures to join M.U.
Lukaku will be named in the "Red Devils" summer tour of the US. Rooney's confirmation of returning to Everton yesterday makes the "M.U - Lukaku" deal more clarified than ever.
The key point of this deal is that since the 2017 summer transfer market opened, Chelsea has been the closest- follows Lukaku and everyone thought that "Little Drogba" would return to Chelsea to replace Diego Costa. However, with just one punch called a "75 million pounds punch", M.U took Chelsea's weight down, thereby bringing in a replacement for Ibrahimovic.
In a situation of being "robbed", Chelsea immediately sent an offer of £75 million to Lukaku to convince him to turn around. However, when Lukaku just had a photo wearing a Manchester United shirt, Chelsea had to give up hope.
The reason The Blues took this action was because they had also won against M.U at the last minute, specifically the case of midfielder John Obi Mikel. In 2006, Mikel took a photo of himself holding an M.U shirt in the press conference room, but just the next day, he signed a contract with Chelsea.
After losing Lukaku, Chelsea should find a new striker to replace Diego Costa. The two most likely names at the moment for the Old Trafford team are Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid) and Andrea Belotti (Torino).
