Asian tournament to prepare for long-term goals

On May 7, the Vietnam Weightlifting Team sent the 8 most important officers to compete in the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championship held in China (closing ceremony on May 16). The Vietnamese weightlifting team aims to win a Gold Medal at the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championship.
"The athletes competing in the Asian Championship 2025 are an important athlete of Vietnam weightlifting. This is the first international tournament this year of the Vietnam Weightlifting Team and the coaching staff will consider the player's professional skills to have professional adjustments. In Asia, some strong athletes in the Olympic content group are attended and Vietnamese athletes will be accumulated in Asia in Asia," expressed.
In the last 3 times participating in the Asian Weightlifting Championship (2022, 2023, 2024), the Vietnam Weightlifting Team participated and won the Gold Medal. According to experts, through each competition, Vietnamese weightlifters always take awards to grasp the tuyenling force, thereby preparing for long-term goals.
We have reviewed the results of the 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championship to adjust and prepare for the 19th ASIAD in Hangzhou (China), and the results of the 2023 and 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships to grasp the ability of Vietnam players before the 2024 Paris Olympics (France).
"In June 2025, the World Weightlifting Federation began to change the content of the competition in the official tournament. At the Asian Championships Tournament 2025, the athletes of the old weighing group will compete but basically adjusting when the new content is applied, it will depend on the goals of the countries" - Mr. Nguyen Huy Hung added.

From 2026, weightlifting and many important sports will enter a investment-focused cycle towards the goal of developing key sports to participate in the Olympics and ASIAD in the 2026-2046 period. According to the task of the sports industry, weightlifting is an sport expected to win a Bronze Medal at the 2028 and 2032 Olympics.
"This is not an easy target to achieve. We must invest very methodically, have people to ensure the ability. We have a promising young squad that competed in the recent 2025 World Youth and teen Championship. They must have experience through practical matches. If effective, we see that young athletes need to compete in the SEA Games to know more about their abilities and predict their professional abilities in the near future, said Mr. Do Dinh Khang, General Secretary of the Vietnam Weightlifting and Physical Training Federation.
The last time the Vietnam Weightlifting Team won a medal was at the 2012 Olympics in London (UK) (Bronde Medal, athlete Tran Le Quoc Toan). In fact, before participating in the 2012 Olympics, player Tran Le Quoc Toan won a Gold Medal at the 2011 SEA Games and had a boost for himself. At the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Weightlifting Team will participate in many important weight classes.
According to Mr. Do Dinh Khang's analysis, competing in the SEA Games is of professional value for the top players in the region because many faces of Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam always participate.
The weightlifting event of the 33-2025 SEA Games will organize the following events: 55kg, 61kg, 67kg, 73kg, 81kg, 96kg, over 96kg (men) and 45kg, 49kg, 55kg, 59kg, 64kg, 71kg, over 71kg (women).
