On the afternoon of May 6, at De Nhat Hotel (HCMC), Vietnam Football Joint Stock Company (VietFootball) held a technical meeting and drawn lots to arrange the schedule of the National 7-a-side Football Championship 2026 in the Southern region (SPL-S8).
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Huy Duc - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Deputy General Director of VietFootball - emphasized the companionship of the teams in maintaining and developing the 7-a-side football movement in the Southern region. In the context of many financial difficulties, the organizers and clubs have made efforts to maintain the playground, ensuring the tournament takes place stably and continuously.

Delegates also contributed many opinions to improve professional quality and organization work. Notably, Pi Four FC leaders made some practical proposals to improve the tournament model. The Organizing Committee also disseminated the regulations, reviewed the organization stages, as well as requirements on uniforms, security and competition safety.
According to the plan, SPL-S8 takes place from May 10 to July 12, at Phuoc Long Stadium (HCMC), with the participation of 12 teams competing in a round-robin format to calculate points and rank. The champion team receives the cup, gold medal and 50 million VND prize money; the next positions receive 30 million VND, 20 million VND and 10 million VND respectively. Besides, there are individual and team titles, each prize worth 5 million VND.
The draw results of round 1 bring Thao Vy Organic to face Pi Four FC - an experienced opponent with significant investment this season. This is considered an early test for the defending champion's ambition to defend the throne. In another match, An Bien FC will face Bay Nui FC in a rematch with many predestined relationships.
The top three teams of SPL-S8 will win the right to represent the Southern region to participate in the VPL 2026 final round, scheduled to be held in Hanoi at the end of July.
