The Ho Chi Minh City Open 2024 9-ball Billiards Pool Tournament will take place from September 25 to 29 at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).
This is the international pool tournament with the largest prize money in the history of domestic Billiards with a total prize of up to 110,000 USD (nearly 2.8 billion VND), the champion player alone received 35,000 USD (nearly 900 million VND).
Besides the final round gathering the world's top players as well as the top Vietnamese players, the qualifying round of the tournament also attracted attention, with the participation of many famous athletes.
The qualifying round will take place from September 20 to 23 at the Sports Service Center (215C Ly Thuong Kiet, District 11, HCMC).
With the desire to "hunt" for 1 of 32 spots in the final round and the qualifying round championship worth up to 5,000 USD (about 130 million VND), many famous players from the Vietnamese and international pool scene will participate.
Famous Vietnamese players such as Nguyen Van Dang, Nguyen Hoang Phong, Quach Vi Nam, Do Hoang Quan, Nguyen Hoang Minh Tai, Chau Chau Minh, Cao Van Hao, Tat Duy Kien, Ho So Phat, Nguyen Van Dung, Nguyen Phuong Thao... will participate in the qualifying round.
They will compete with famous opponents from Taiwan (China), Philippines, USA, UK, China...
Among them is Kuo Po Cheng, a famous Taiwanese (Chinese) player who won the 9-ball world championship twice in 2005 and 2010, as well as winning the gold medal in the men's 8-ball pool event at the 2010 Asian Games.
Chinese veteran Fu Jianbo, who won the 2010 World 10-Ball Championship, has beaten many of the world's top players and also qualified.
Billiards pool powerhouse Philippines has the presence of highly anticipated faces such as Richard Tia Alinsub, Seanmark Malayan, Mazon Jundel or Raymund Faraon. These are all outstanding talents, constantly causing a "fever" in international tournaments recently, promising to be a formidable challenge for the home players.
In addition, we cannot fail to mention Morris Chang (UK), Takashi Uraoka (Japan), Raphael Dabreo (USA)...
With the quality of the domestic and international players mentioned above, the Ho Chi Minh Open 2024 qualifying round will certainly be as exciting and dramatic as the final round that follows.
The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-Ball Billiards Pool Tournament is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) in coordination with other organizations and is sponsored by the famous Billiards brand Aplus.
The tournament is also recognized by 2 World Pool Billiards Federation (WPA) and Asian Billiards Sports Federation (ACBS).
In the final round, the champion will receive an attractive prize of up to 35,000 USD (nearly 900 million VND).
The runner-up received 13,000 USD (nearly 330 million VND).
Third place players receive $5,000.
In addition, players in the Top 8 receive 3,000 USD/person, Top 16 receive 1,600 USD/person, Top 32 receive 800 USD/person, Top 64 will receive 450 USD/person.
The final round slots will be allocated by WPA.
