On the evening of July 24, the Vietnamese team started ASEAN Cup 2026 with a 7-0 victory over Timor-Leste at My Dinh Stadium. Dinh Bac shone with a hat-trick, along with goals from Hoang Hen (2 goals), Xuan Son and Quang Hai.
Sharing after the match, striker Dinh Bac said that the whole team had careful preparation before entering the tournament: "The whole team has had 1 month of preparation. The whole team has prepared well. The result is victory today. The whole team will strive to have a successful tournament.
I like all 3 goals. The celebration started from the Brazilian players, I want to'cover up' the celebration. Hope for the next matches, fans will continue to accompany. See you all in the next match at My Dinh Stadium".
Meanwhile, coach Kim Sang-sik highly appreciated the performance of his players and affirmed that the whole team will continue to aim for positive results in the next matches: "We have prepared well and shown ourselves. Every player is confident, all play well. We will aim for the next match and try to win".
The Korean coach also thanked the fans who were present at My Dinh Stadium to fuel the team in unfavorable weather conditions.
He shared: "Today the weather is bad but fans still come to cheer for the whole team. I really appreciate it. I would like to thank all the fans who cheered for us, here and at home. We will try our best to show gratitude to the fans.
The 7-0 victory helps the Vietnamese team have a favorable start in Group A of the ASEAN Cup 2026, and also creates psychological momentum before the confrontations with direct competitors in the next stage of the tournament.
