On the evening of July 24 (Vietnam time), the Vietnamese national team will start their journey to defend the ASEAN Cup 2026 championship with a match against Timor Leste. Compared to Indonesia and Singapore, Timor Leste is considered a more comfortable opponent, but coach Kim Sang-sik and his team still need to play focused to avoid surprises.
Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai affirmed that the whole team is in the best spirit, physical strength and tactical preparation before the tournament starts.
Sharing before the match, Quang Hai said that after nearly a month of training, the Vietnamese team has had careful preparation in many aspects.
After about three to four weeks of training, the whole team has very good preparation in terms of spirit, fitness, physical condition as well as tactics. Up to this point, everything is ready for the tournament. The quality of the training sessions also shows the concentration, solidarity and very high determination of the whole team," Quang Hai said.
Every time he is called up to the national team and participates in an international tournament, it is an honor, and also a motivation for the midfielder born in 1997 to strive to contribute more.

The male player affirmed that he and his teammates will play with the highest determination in each match to aim for the common goal of the team.

Assessing the opponents at the tournament, Quang Hai said that there will be no easy match, especially when playing away from home.
In my opinion, there is no easy opponent to play against. Matches away from home always contain many difficulties. Therefore, the coaching staff and players must maintain the highest concentration, prepare carefully for each match to aim for the best results," the midfielder of the Vietnamese national team affirmed.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will enter the opening match of ASEAN Cup 2026 with the determination to start smoothly, creating momentum for the goal of going deep in the regional tournament.
