Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh and officials and athletes.
The flag-raising ceremony took place during the program to welcome sports delegations to ASIAD 20. After the introduction, the delegations participated in cultural activities, listened to welcome speeches, performed flag-raising ceremonies, received souvenirs and took photos.

The ASIAD 2026 Organizing Committee has implemented a welcoming program for the delegation for three days, from June 16 to 18. 9. There are three sessions each day at 10:00 AM, 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Due to space limitations, each delegation is only allowed to send a maximum of 14 members to participate. Therefore, the force present at the ceremony only represents the entire sports delegation of each country and territory.
With the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, the flag-raising ceremony takes place when the teams have successively arrived in Japan and entered the Games schedule.
Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh said that the health of the members is stable and the whole delegation is ready to compete. The Vietnam Sports Delegation has 498 members, of which the teams are assigned to many locations according to the schedule and accommodation conditions.

A characteristic of ASIAD 20 is that there is no centralized athlete village. Teams are arranged in many different locations depending on the schedule and competition location.
According to Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, this creates additional requirements in directing and operating, but the Vietnamese delegation has proactively developed a plan to adapt to the organizational conditions.
ASIAD 20 officially takes place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya. After the flag-raising ceremony, the Vietnamese teams continue to focus on the competition schedule for each sport.
